On the afternoon of October 4th, 2023, Mr. Loh Chang Woo, President of Malaysia China Legal Cooperation Society, and other esteemed guests paid a visit to Xiamen University Malaysia, while listening to the report of both the Intellectual Property and Innovation Research Centre of Xiamen University Malaysia and Fujian Overseas Intellectual Property Dispute Response and Guidance Centre Malaysia Office (hereinafter referred to as “the Research Centre” and “Malaysia Office”).
Among the esteemed guests accompanying Mr. Loh were Professor Dato’ Dr. Rahmat bin Mohamad, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Asian International Arbitration Centre; Dr. Cheah Thien Soong, President of the Nanyang Arts Research Society; Ms. Deng Shan, Lawyer of Dingfeng Law Firm; and Mr. Wang Haihua, Marketing Specialist of N.C.N Media Malaysia SDN BHD.
Vice President, Associate Professor Zhang Ying, representing Xiamen University Malaysia, provided an overview of the institution’s accomplishments and endeavours. Professor Cheryl Xiaoning Long, Director of the Research Centre, warmly welcomed the guests, updating them about the centre’s latest progress: the Research Centre’s official website is poised for launch, and promotion plans are being systematically executed. The centre will aim to advance in three pivotal directions: talent cultivation and academic research, international exchange and cooperation, and social services.
The guests, acknowledging the fast progress of the Research Centre and Malaysia Office, expressed their heartfelt congratulations. They expressed their hopes for forging deeper collaborations in the future and provided valuable insights on the future development for both entities.

As a gesture of goodwill, Mr. Loh Chang Woo bestowed upon Xiamen University Malaysia a piece of his photographic work and Dr. Cheah Thien Soong, in a similar vein, presented a collection of his artwork. During the open dialogue session, Professor Cheryl Xiaoning Long and the distinguished guests discussed potential collaborations between Chinese and Malaysian institutions, expert database creation and maintenance, as well as other pertinent topics.
With the setting sun as their backdrop, the esteemed guests embarked on their journey home, leaving behind a day filled with enriching exchanges and mutual respect.
