IPIRC, XMUM Faculty, and Malaysia-China Entrepreneurs Visit Royal Selangor 

On October 18, 2024, Dr. Liu Lingzi, Assistant Professor at the Intellectual Property and Innovation Research Centre (IPIRC) of Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), and Dr. Consilz Tan, Senior Lecturer at XMUM, joined Mr. Lee Koh Yung, National Council Member of the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce, along with Mr. Ma Guowu, Director of the Asia Division of the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce and Secretary-General of the Fujian Provincial Asia-Pacific Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Association, who led a team of 14 Chinese entrepreneurs, to visit Royal Selangor, a renowned Malaysian business. This visit aimed to deepen understanding and cooperation between Chinese and Malaysian enterprises and to explore opportunities and challenges for collaboration in today’s global economic landscape.

During the visit, Dr. Tan presented the history of Chinese immigration to Southeast Asia, including the entrepreneurial adventures of Fujian merchants overseas, and discussed the current opportunities and challenges in China-Malaysia business cooperation. Mr. Lee provided an overview of Malaysia’s current investment policies, while encouraging more Chinese entrepreneurs to seize opportunities for investment and development in Malaysia. And Mr. Ma shared his vision for potential cooperation in multiple fields between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic ties between China and Malaysia.

This event further strengthened IPIRC’s connections with local Malaysian enterprises and Chinese businesses in Malaysia, by expanding influence within the industry and laying a solid foundation for future collaboration and communication.
